The development of a new Student Affairs professional is a task that many people are involved in, you might say that it "takes a village”. SACSA is that village and it puts the growth of young professionals in the forefront. This was evident to me from my very first conference. As a graduate student Dwaun Warmack invited me to SACSA and I have not missed one since. I was instantly welcomed by those who had been members for years and also made fast friends with those other graduate students who were also trying to figure out what this thing was all about. Before the end of those few days I had gained valuable knowledge from the sessions that I attended, was signed up for a committee, and energized to go back to my campus and share what I learned. I knew I enjoyed the conference but still had no idea the impact SACSA would play in my development years down the road.

SACSA is fertile ground where new professionals looking for opportunities are given the chance jump right in, volunteer, learn, grow and make an impact. In my short time in the association I have had the pleasure of serving on the Multicultural Awareness Committee, SACSA’s Newest Committee and as the 2010 Local Arrangements Chair. Through these roles I have been able to connect with and build lasting relationships with colleagues from around the region.

When I donate to the SACSA Foundation I know that I am supporting the association and helping to give back to other new professionals who will be some of the beneficiaries of the wonderful ongoing resources that come from being a SACSA member. Contribute to SACSA, I’m a believer that if you are good to SACSA, it will be good to you. I encourage you to give to the SACSA Foundation.
