With so many professional organizations in Higher Education, it can be overwhelming to find a "home” in any of them. I had been involved in several associations since my undergraduate days but always felt like a small fish in a big pond, especially at annual conferences. It wasn’t until 2008 that my colleague, supervisor, and good friend, Kenneth Posner invited me to the SACSA annual conference in Hilton Head, SC and encouraged me to get involved.

Immediately, I felt a warm sense of camaraderie as I met some of the most talented, passionate professionals in the 

field! SACSA’s rich history, grounded roots, and southern hospitality confirmed my decision to explore ways to get

involved and give back to the association! I began by volunteering at conferences, donating to the SACSA Foundation, and sharing my SACSA experience with other colleagues and students, encouraging them to become members.

Now I serve SACSA as your 2011 Conference Chair, I encourage all of you, no matter what level you are in your professional career, to share with SACSA your talents, time, and treasure as we continue to serve our students, our institutions, our families, and each other. Giving to the Foundation is easy, but more importantly, supports the efforts of our association and membership. Every dollar makes a difference! See you in Atlanta, GA for our annual conference November 5-7, 2011!
