Joelle Davis Carter is the Assistant Vice President for Retention and Student Services at Western Kentucky University. Prior to serving in this role, she held several administrative leadership positions where her responsibilities included grant-writing and fundraising. Since 2003, she has raised more than 1.5 million dollars from government agencies, corporations, professional organizations and individual donors for program development and research endeavors.
Joelle has been a member of SACSA since 1997 and served in a variety of roles that have include Chair for the Multicultural Issues Committee, Conference Program Chair, and Vice President for Partnerships. Joelle has also been the recipient of the New Professionals Award (2003) and the Melvene Draheim Hardee Award (2013). She has served as the Chair of Foundation for two consecutive years. During her tenure, she has collaborated with the board members to enhance the presence of the Foundation using social media (e.g. FaceBook), developed a bi-annual newsletter called The Foundation, and raised more than $11,000 in financial support for SACSA program such as the Dissertation of the Year Award, research grants and case study competition. In the coming year, Joelle hopes to double donations and increase the number of members who donate to SACSA each year.
